Please be prepared to describe the reason for the call: Is the animal standing or down? Does the animal need surgery? How long has the cow been in labor? A regular call charge is applied.

If you call between 9:00 AM and 5:00 pm to schedule a visit, a doctor’s schedule of regular calls will have to be adjusted to accommodate your request. A "late call" surcharge of $18 is applied in addition to the regular call charge.

Helpful hints for using the answering service:

Note: Let the telephone ring if there is no answer on the first two rings. They may be responding to several calls at one time.

  1. Give your name, telephone number and location.
  2. Describe the problem. Please speak slowly. Everything you say must be written down in order to advise the doctor on call.
  3. Be patient. The answering service staff is neither familiar with dairy farm language nor trained in cow care.
  4. Have someone available to answer the telephone in case the doctor needs to talk to you. If you are using a cell telephone, please stay in a place that has good reception.

Please note: The answering service will NOT:

  • Give out cell numbers of doctors.
  • Say where a doctor is at the time you call. This is a matter of client confidentiality.
  • Call any doctor that is not on call.
  • Call the clinic after closing to find out if a doctor is still there.

Call (585) 591-2660 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday and between 9:00 am and 12:00 Noon on Saturday. Always identify the farm and yourself. Give your contact information (telephone, cell telephone, fax, email). If you know the staff person you wish to do the consultation, you may be able to schedule the visit with the receptionist. If you do not know which person would be best qualified to meet your needs, explain the problem and we will call you back.

Call (585) 591-2660 before 3:00 PM the day before the drugs/supplies are needed.

Many of the drugs we supply must be individually labeled for your farm to comply with federal and state regulations. As much advance notice as possible makes assembling your order efficient for us.

If your location is not convenient for one of the doctors or a Cattl-Tek route truck that day, you may have to wait for delivery. You may always pick up the drugs/supplies at the clinic rather than wait for delivery.
